Legacy Foresight are the UK’s foremost analysts of the legacy and in-memory sectors.

We offer benchmarking, forecasting, research and consultancy services to charity clients.

Since our first project in 1994 we have worked with over 200 charities, including the top 20 UK fundraising brands and a growing number of international clients.

With thanks to our clients, we share information, news and insight, about the legacy and in-memory sectors with the wider not for profit ecosystem.

Over 25 years ago, we produced our first legacy income forecasts – and today we provide regular forecasts to over 30 of the largest charities in the UK, projecting legacy income and donor numbers to aid financial planning and risk management.

Our flagship product Legacy Monitor, a consortium programme of over 80 UK charities, takes legacy performance data drawn directly from our members’ databases combined with big picture economic and social trends to create an in-depth analysis of the British legacy sector.

We are excited to be developing our international footprint and working with charities and partners across borders. We run a version of our Legacy Monitor for a consortium of charities in The Netherlands. Recently, we’ve produced a series of long-term forecasts of the Australian gifts in wills sector, as well as assessing opportunities in Ireland, Scandinavia and Canada. Get in touch with us for more on this.

Gaining importance in the sector, is in-memory giving. Our research programme has worked with over 90 charities from across the UK. In autumn 2020 we investigated the impact of the pandemic on in-memory giving, the following year we focused on the accelerating use of digital platforms across the in-memory landscape.

Past areas of research include fundraising events, in-memory products, social and digital media, in-memory supporter stewardship and the role of Funeral Directors in in-memory donations.

Legacy Foresight conducts several consortium programmes each year, working with groups of charities to research issues of common interest, while sharing costs, information and experiences. We first looked at baby boomer legators in 2007 and returned in 2010, 2014 and 2019 to explore their impact on legacy giving over the next 40 years.

Our new cycle, The Future of Legacy Giving : Boomers and Beyond, kicks off in spring 2023. This time we will compare the lifestyles, attitudes and expectations of boomers with Generation X. We’d love to have you join us.

Recent work has focused on faith-based legacy and in-memory giving, supporter stewardship, 21st century will-making and lay executors.

Legacy Foresight is proud to be part of the Legacy Futures Group of companies which includes legacy administration experts, Legacy Link and strategic fundraising consultancy, Legacy Voice, enabling us to offer unprecedented expertise across the legacy and in-memory giving space.
